Bookings
Is it ok to book over the phone?
Yes. It is preferable that you book online, but if you'd like to book over the phone, we are more than happy to assist you, please give us a call on (07) 4053 3394 during office hours; 8am-5pm weekdays, and 8am-12pm Saturday.
What do I do if my departure and return dates are out of office hours?
You leave your car parked near the exit gate of the Cairns Domestic Airport or at the arrivals of the Cairns International Airport (or another location, by arrangement). You will need to drop your key, car park entry ticket, and your signed form into a yellow envelope provided at either Airport Car Storage security box. Then deposit into the relevant Airport Car Storage security box either:
- Domestic Terminal: At the Main Pay Station, in the middle front of the public car park (click to view site map) or;
- International Terminal: Inside the Terminal between the Red Spot car rental and the public phone booth under the stairs at the arrival section. (click to view site map)
We will pick your car up from the Cairns Airport and store it for you at our storage depot. We will return it to the Cairns Airport and park it at the relevant terminal on the date you have specificed just prior to your arrival time in Cairns:
- Domestic Terminal: Near the exit gate in the domestic public car park or;
- International Terminal: At the arrivals end of the International public car park
Can I choose to have my car stored under cover?
Yes it can be stored under cover or uncovered. please see our storage prices.
What happens if I lose or take my car park entry ticket with me?
Call to let us know straight away so we can collect your car. Cairns Airport charge a minimum of $20 for a lost ticket. We need this ticket to exit the car park with your car.
Do I need to provide my RACQ number?
Yes. Your RACQ details are required to reduce the cost to you if something happens that needs to be repaired. This includes but is not limited to common problems such as; flat batter (sometimes lights are left on in the car park by mistake or when in a hurry), flat tyre or we have trouble starting your car.
What security do you have?
Airport Car Storage is a secure under cover / uncovered storage depot, including; fully fenced property, guard dogs, onsite care takers and internet online back to base surveillance cameras and alarm systems 24/7.
How do I know my booking has gone through?
Once you have confirmed and submitted your booking, you will be given a booking number (4 digit number). Also you will receive a SMS message which will state;
- Your booking number
- Location of relevant Airport Car Storage security box (Domestic or International) - if applicable
- Unlock code for relevant Airport Car Storage security box - if applicable
- Location of where your car will be parked on return
I don't know when I am coming back, is that an issue?
No, that is perfectly fine. We will mark the booking as a "to be advised" (TBA). Just make sure you call and give 24 hours notice prior to needing your vehicle back out to the Airport or another location, otherwise there it may incur a late notice fee, especially on holidays or Sundays when we only have a skeleton crew.
Transport Services
Do you provide a shuttle service?
Yes. A shuttle service is available free of charge during office hours; 8am-5pm weekdays, and 8am-12pm Saturday. Bookings must be made prior to your departure and return for this service.
This service is not available on public holidays or Sundays.
If you are travelling with infants and baby capsules in your car this is the best option rather than a double up to and from the Airport. This is also a good option if you, or a person travelling with you, has a disability. During office hours, just ring us and we can arrange to have a driver follow you to the Airport to drive your car back to our storage facility after you have unloaded your luggage and have your car waiting for you on your return. Please give us enough notice to have someone organised before you arrive so it is a seamless transition.
Do you have a valet service?
Yes on both counts.

Airport Car Storage has drivers to pick up and drop your car off at the appropriate time and place (see how to book procedure).
Valet car parking is a most valued service to our customers. Many of our customers return to take advantage of this service, citing this as the most convenient part of their journey. This allows them to park their car and fly out knowing that their car will be picked up and stored securely. On return they will just walk to their car and exit without having to bother with paying at the pay station just use the prepaid exit ticket.. It also eliminates using a taxi or shuttle service with double handling of your luggage or infants by just using your own car conveniently parked and ready for you.

Does your company operate on Public Holidays?
Yes, we do. Our Valet service operates 365 days of the year and on Sundays and Public Holidays, the drop off and pick up fee is different to that of a standard day please view our storage rates. Sorry for the inconvenience but our shuttle service does not operate on Public holidays or Sundays.
Prices / Rates
How much does it cost to store my car?
Airport Car Storage rates are based on a sliding scale starting as low as $4.80 per night which is still negotiable depending on the storage type and term. Please see our storage prices page.
Can I get a quote for extra long term storage?
Yes, please contact us on (07) 4053 3394 during office hours; 8am-5pm weekdays, and 8am-12pm Saturday. Or send us an email and we will contact you with a price.
Payment
How do I pay?
There are many ways to pay, the easiest is by credit card over the phone or writing it on the booking form. We do not charge your card until the car is due back out to the airport for your return.
Other payment options are;
- Cash: Place the correct amount in the yellow envelope with your key, car park entry ticket and form at the time of departure
- Money order
- Direct deposit or;
- Pay online yourself - If you have trouble paying online we can help you just ring our reception on (07) 4053 3394 during office hours; 8am-5pm weekdays, 8am-12pm Saturday.
We also accept payment by cheque, but this is only for pre-approved or account customers.
I don't want to pay online with my credit card, is there another way?
Sure, just give us a call on (07) 4053 3394 during office hours; 8am-5pm weekdays, and 8am-12pm Saturday, and quote your credit card number to one of our staff members. They'll enter it with your relevant customer details and your credit card will be charged for the current invoice once your car is due to be delivered for your return to the Airport.
Or, you can write your credit card details on the booking form that you will place into a yellow envelope with your keys and car park entry ticket on your departure.
If I give my credit card details, when do you debit my card?
This is done on the day of your scheduled return date.
What happens if I take my car out of storage prior to the term agreed?
Charges will revert to relevant rates from the date in to the date out.
Other Services
Do you store anything other than cars?
Yes. Including trucks, trailers, caravans, boats and machinery. We have staff that have truck licenses. Motorbikes must be delievered to our depot. Please call for a free quote (07) 4053 3394 during office hours; 8am-5pm weekdays, and 8am-12pm Saturday.
Do you provide services outside of what is listed on your website?

For example, one of our long-term Melbourne customers who owns a business in Port Douglas rang and asked if we could pick up some equipment from the Cairns business district and leave it in his car. His flight arrival in Cairns was after closing time and he just wanted to drive straight to Port Douglas.
Can I have a car cover on my car even if it is stored under cover?
Yes, just let us know when you are booking your car in. You can do so in the special instructions of your booking.
Can I have my car cleaned while I am away?
Yes. We offer a range of different services, such as washing and waxing your car, detailing and cut and polish. To view the full range of our services please visit our services page.
Can I have my car serviced / repaired while I am away?
Yes. We can drop your car off and pick your car up anywhere within Cairns City. There is a $15 charge each way for this service as two people are required to do this. Please visit our services page.

What are your operating/office hours?
Although Airport Car Storage operates 365 days of the year, the working hours depend on the bookings we receive. Office hours are 8am-5pm weekdays, and 8am-12pm Saturday. After hours there is a mobile service for emergencies only.
